Announcement
The site has been inactive since I retired as president in 2011.
Several years ago I was pleasantly surprised when the new NHS new sectary told me he was making a new web site, also a facebook group. I agreed to let my facebook group fade away and he could use anything they wanted to use from this NHS web page.
I thought everything was just fine until it was brought to my attention that the New NHS reflected none of the projects, records or minutes by the Northport Historical Society from 2004 to 2011.
I was rather surprised even though I had been aware that the new President and Sectary did not approve of my outspokenness on just about any subject that I thought needed to be talked about.
With a straight face the new sectary informed me that no-one was interested in old minutes.
Projects start before and when I became president have been completely ignored on the new NHS website, even though they proclaim their goal is to preserve the history of Northport.
The fire hall project is one example, it was moved & seconded the NHS would raise funds to put the 1934 Dodge fire truck in running condition so that it could be used in local parades. The truck is setting in the old fire hall and hasn't been moved since 2011.
It was moved & seconded that the NHS would keep the brush and undergrowth cleaned from two old cemeteries. Not a thing has been done since 2011, that same goes for the upkeep of plaques placed on several old historical buildings in town.
Last but not least is the last newsletter I wrote which also happens to be the last newsletter put out by the NHS. (DEC 2011)
Those that know me understand I have little patience with short sighted people who like to run around acting important
